My Political Typology - Entry 1

Hello, my name is Kendall Fry. I am a white, young, female who lives in California and is fortunate enough to have a good education. I attend a school in Daly City by the name of Summit Shasta that is not as well know in the San Mateo County area. I am currently taking a AP Government class were my classmates and I are learning about different types of interest groups. This blog will serve the purpose of conveying my ideas and analysis on these groups, and how each one, respectively, affects politics in the United States.

 I took the Pew Research Center Political Typology Quiz which informed me that I am a Solid Liberal. This political label doesn't surprise me based on my believes and how I was raised. The key elements of this categorization where my opinions on the environment, military, power, immigrants, the LGBT+ community, religion, and my ideas on the future of our nation. More specifically, I believe that we as a nation and as human beings should improve our environment, I believe that war should not be prioritized, I am a advocate for the LGBT+ community, I believe that immigrants are just as worthy of being an American as I am and strengthen American society, and lastly, I believe that religion is not necessary in order to posses values and morals and therefore should not be prioritized. I think most of my political opinion has come from the nature and nurture of my upbringing. My parents are also white, educated, and do not identify as religious. My parent have always had an open mind to many things such as gay marriage and diversity which inspired me to do as well. I have also grown up in a diverse community which allowed me to better understand other walks of life that differ from my own. Since I live in California, I have also been exposed to the idea of a changing and growing government and society. These ideas and aspects of my life make me who I am and I am very thankful for that.
